Paresh Rawal plays Kanji Bhai, a Gujrati business man, in the film OMG… Oh My God(2012)! The film jointly produced by Ashvini Yardi, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal is adapted from a Gujrati play “Kanji Virrudh Kanji” . It is a satire on the commercialisation of religion as one comes across in our country, India.
#1An atheist’s call for reinterrogating one of the most ancient puzzles of human civilisation and reconsidering the idea of “Religion is the opium of the people“( to borrow the grand old man Karl Marx’s words) is an effort that is praise-worthy!
#2The post-modern image reconstruction of God was both exhilarating and wicked and felt more appealing than, say, a certain production called The Man Who Sued God ( 2001 ) (guess, my desi taste buds are culturally at ease with local flavors )
#3Scientifically unproven but socio-culturally approved, God’s existence
Please feel free to lash out or appreciate.
