OMG… Oh My God! Back to Basics!

Paresh Rawal  plays Kanji Bhai, a Gujrati business man, in the film OMG… Oh My God(2012)! The film jointly produced by  Ashvini Yardi, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal is adapted from a Gujrati play “Kanji Virrudh Kanji” . It is a satire on the commercialisation of religion as one comes across in our country, India.

An atheist’s  call for reinterrogating one of the most ancient puzzles of human civilisation and reconsidering the idea of “Religion is the opium of the people“( to borrow the grand old man Karl Marx’s words) is an effort that is praise-worthy!

God-damned enterprise & co.!

The post-modern image reconstruction of God was both exhilarating and wicked  and felt more appealing than, say, a certain production  called The Man Who Sued God ( 2001 ) (guess, my desi taste buds are culturally at ease with local flavors  smile emoticon  )

Scientifically unproven but socio-culturally approved, God’s existence unfortunately finally finds legitimacy by the end of the film leaving behind a lingering sense of dubious discomfort   !!

Please feel free to lash out or appreciate.
