Vicky Donor: Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Indian medical fraternity  must have cried in ‘happy-happy-joy-joy’ mode   on discovering a gem in Shoojit Sircar and John Abraham’s  social comedy Vicky Donor (2012) that revolved around the sensitive issue of sperm donation and infertility  *jai ho*  With stellar performances from Ayushmann KhurranaYami Gautam , Dolly Ahluwalia and Annu Kapoor an infotainment never appeared so sleek and appealing !

Full marks for dealing with a tabooed topic with such ease and dignity without sacrificing on the entertainment quotient , unlike, say Shyam Benegal‘s  Hari-Bhari (2000), dealing with family planning, (I know its sacrilegious to bring out such a comparison, but the sociomedical nature of the film reminded me of it)  which was too serious and documentary-like to find a mass appeal.

Infertility and Sperm Donation!

Unfortunately, virginity and sex are still  intricately attached to the life and character of an Indian woman. Remember the scene where Yami Gautam comes clean about her ‘divorced’ past? Rings any bell? No?? Then click here  lol lol lol

Vicky Donor‘s ending ! Way too unimaginative, conventional and tame !! Such an intricate excuse to justify ‘adopting’ one’s own biological baby ! [Interestingly it was a baby girl…hmmmm Save Girls?!]

How did you find the film & Ayshmaan Khurrana?wink wink

Please feel free to lash out or appreciate.

  1. Hello! Would you mind if I share your blog with my myspace group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really enjoy your content. Please let me know. Many thanks

  2. I am really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A couple of my blog visitors have complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox. Do you have any tips to help fix this problem?

Dear Lauretta Tubergen, Thank you so much for your appreciation. No, as of now I have not received any such complain.
The old IE doesnot support a few technicalities anymore, but IE 9 is good. If the problem is with IE 9 then it might be an issue with the individual setting of the computer. One can try this to make the content visible—- Tools>Internet Options>Security tab, click “reset all zones to default”.
